Recipe: Apple Pie

Ingredients for 8 people:

  • 1 puff pastry
  • 200 grams apples, peeled and sliced
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 grams cream
  • 130 grams sugar
  •  ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • baking beans
  • baking paper
  • 1 round cake mould of about 24-26 cm
  1. Preheat oven to 180ºC.
  2. Cover cake mould with baking paper, put puff pastry in the mould, cover again with baking paper and on top of all of this some baking beans.  Bake for about 10 minutes. When done, remove baking beans and upper baking paper, prick puff pastry a few times with a fork and bake for 12 more minutes, until golden brown. Cool down pastry on rack.
  3. Meanwhile, combine eggs, cream, sugar and vanilla extract.
  4. Layer apple slices into the baked pastry case, add egg mixture and bake for about half an hour until eggs are not runny anymore and golden brown.

SUGGESTION: Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top of the pie just before serving it.
